Like many young couples, Kristy and Ken met and fell in love. They married and had two amazing children: Mackenzie (5) and Cason (2). In 2005, they bought their first home and were looking forward to a long, happy life there together. Eight years ago, Ken was diagnosed with Ocular Melanoma. He underwent radiation treatment, and although the treatment was successful, he lost the sight in his right eye. Unfortunately, years later he had to have his eye removed due to further complications.

In addition to Ken's illness, his beautiful wife Kristy has a serious condition of her own. She suffers from a rare condition called Basil Artery Migraine. This condition causes the artery in the brain stem to constrict, preventing blood flow to the brain. The loss in pressure due to the constriction causes Kristy to experience dizziness, nausea, blurred vision, loss of coordination, and most importantly, syncope. Syncope is the sudden and spontaneous loss of consciousness. Because of her illness, Kristy's unable to work or drive a vehicle. As the sole provider, Ken's was instrumental in enabling his family to function normally, and was their pillar of strength.

In March, 2007, after experiencing pain in his side, Ken went to his doctor and was diagnosed with stage 4 melanoma. Further tests confirmed that the melanoma metastasized to several of his internal organs, leaving the time Ken had left with his family very limited.

Ken under went treatment to reduce the disease and give him time. As a memorial to Ken, his large entourage of friends and family have asked how they can help.
